Loimu is a free hybrid synthesizer for Windows and Linux, built in JUCE as a 64-bit VST3 plugin and standalone instrument. It blends classic subtractive analog waveforms with digital phase modulation and sample layering, aimed at sci-fi soundscapes, synthwave/cyberpunk basslines and club stabs.
About Loimu VST
Loimu's sample engine plays one-shots, forward loops or ping-pong loops, layered under the synth waveforms. That gives it a short route from plain analog-style tones to textured hybrids with a recorded layer underneath.
It runs 16 voices, up from 8 in the first version, so dense chords and long releases don't steal notes. Amplitude and filter each get a DADSR envelope, LFOs handle movement, and a built-in chorus, delay and stereo reverb finish the patch. The library holds 190 presets across basses, leads, pads, plucks, percussion and an acoustic category with orchestral instruments.
The developer aims it at electronic producers, composers, sound designers and game developers, and notes that the preset list still holds a few leftover test patches.
