Casetera

About Casetera

Casetera adds cassette character: saturation that softens harsh highs, slow pitch wobble, faster flutter and a bed of hiss. Used lightly it takes the edge off bright hats, synths and thin vocals. Pushed harder it turns crunchy and worn.

The controls fall into four sections. Drive and Bias set how hard the tape is hit and how clean or gritty it reads. The formulation switch picks Warm, Classic, Crisp or Ruin, with Character setting its strength and Wear aging the tape. Wow, Flutter and Hiss cover transport and noise, and one button locks pitch to keep the warmth without the wobble.

The last section has a Mix knob with Dry, 50/50 and Wet buttons, Auto-Gain to hold level as drive rises, and Dice buttons for random settings. There are 25 presets and no DRM or online check, though the download needs a free account with the newsletter on.
