Sickle is a de-esser from Dead Signal Audio, built on the one in its Crucible vocal chain. It compares the sibilance band to the whole voice and turns down only while an S sticks out: THRESHOLD, RANGE, FREQ (3-12 kHz), a LISTEN solo, SPLIT or WIDE modes and linked stereo detection.
About Sickle
Sickle is a de-esser built from the one inside Dead Signal Audio's Crucible vocal chain. It compares the sibilance band with the whole voice, so it reacts the same way at any input level, and turns the signal down only while an S pokes out.
THRESHOLD decides when it acts and RANGE caps how far it cuts. FREQ sweeps from 3 to 12 kHz, and LISTEN solos the band the detector hears so the harsh frequency is easy to find. SPLIT reduces only the highs and leaves the body of the voice alone, while WIDE turns the whole signal down for stubborn cases.
Both stereo channels share one detector, so a stereo vocal stays centred. With RANGE at zero the audio passes through unchanged.
