A MIDI tool that turns one mod wheel into two independently-curved controllers and reads note onset, velocity and legato to phrase bowed and blown instrument parts automatically, with an Auto mode and a mode that writes phrasing onto a dropped-in MIDI file.
About Sonata
Sonata turns a single mod wheel into two independently-shaped controllers, by default CC11 (expression) and CC1 (tremolo), each with its own start, end and curve. It also reads the performance itself: note onset, velocity, and legato playing, so a swell leans in immediately while vibrato waits and fades on, short notes stay clean, and a held note keeps drifting.
Nine bowed and blown instrument models (violin through trumpet) tune how it reads a part. An Auto mode phrases a track with no wheel touched at all, and dropping a MIDI file onto Sonata writes the same phrasing plus pizzicato keyswitches into the file. VST3 and standalone on macOS or Windows, with a 1-day trial.
