About Looma

Looma writes MIDI on its own: melodies and harmonies that come out different on every pass, generated for three voices over one shared chord progression. You set the root, scale, chord length and up to 8 progression steps, and all three voices play over it together.

Every note goes through five theory filters in order. Chord Tone narrows choices toward the chord root as you turn it up, or opens them to the full scale as you turn it down. Pentatonic favours the five-note core, Avoid Note skips half-step clashes over the current chord, No Repeat stops the same note twice in a row, and Smooth pulls the line toward stepwise motion instead of big leaps.

Each voice gets its own low and high note, note probability and a four-slot weighted note-length table, so one can hold a bass line while another plays a lead. A strip shows which notes are playable under the current settings, and a finished pattern drags onto the timeline as separate voice tracks or one merged clip. The built-in synth is only for previewing; route the MIDI to your own instrument.
