About SL Unmask

SL Unmask is a spectral sidechain effect for making room between two tracks. Insert it on the track that needs space, such as bass or a music bed, then feed a separate priority signal, a kick or a vocal, into the sidechain input. It reduces overlapping frequencies in the main signal only while that priority source is present, rather than cutting across the whole spectrum all the time.

Amount and Mix set the strength, Focus with adjustable Low and High frequency limits sets which band responds, and Attack, Release and Smooth shape how the reduction moves. Maximum Reduction caps the dip between 18 and 36dB, and an optional Voice Duck adds bounded broadband attenuation while the priority signal is active. A main/sidechain/reduction display shows both signals and the measured reduction in real time, SC Listen lets you check the sidechain input, and eight factory presets are included.

It needs two separate signals to do anything: without audio in the sidechain input there is no priority-triggered reduction, and it does not extract a vocal or separate stems from a finished mix.
