About Alien PsyEngine
Alien PsyEngine is a semi-modular subtractive and wavetable synth built around psytrance, though the developer also points it at techno, trance, ambient, dub and film or game sound. Two oscillators with unison and wavetables feed the filters, each with drive, envelope and key tracking.
A five-slot effects chain draws from chorus, delay, reverb, bitcrush, ring mod, flanger, phaser and a fattener. An arpeggiator, a 16-step sequencer and a pattern generator handle movement. The Groove Shaper offers twelve duck curves, fifteen gate patterns or a 32-step pattern of your own, and Low-End Lock keeps the sound mono below a set frequency.
Tone Seeker takes a short WAV and finds the closest sound the synth can make, with a match percentage. Scenes A to D store four snapshots to morph between on an XY pad, and 128 factory presets are included.
Key features
- Groove Shaper: synced pump or trance gate on the whole synth
- Acid lanes with slide and accent on every step
- Second filter: serial, parallel or split
