KrystalShaper is a free transient and sustain shaper for Windows and macOS. Three shaping modes, independent Transient/Sustain controls, a Pump stage, sidechain with internal/external input and HP/LP filtering, Stereo/Left-Right/Mid-Side linking, hard and soft clipping, and a delta/A-B listen mode make it suited to drums and other percussive material.
About KrystalShaper
KrystalShaper separates a sound's attack from its body so each can be pushed up or pulled back on its own. Its Pump control goes a step further and ducks the signal right after the transient, which can make a drum hit snappier and leave more space behind it.
Hold and Release set the timing of the transient and sustain portions, and Threshold sets the onset detection range. Each part has its own high- and low-pass filters, separate from the sidechain filters. A Lookahead option adds a short delay for use on instruments, and a Mix control allows parallel processing.
Automatic loudness matching keeps before-and-after comparisons fair, and a real-time waveform display plus separate transient and sustain gain meters show what is changing. Themes and performance settings can be adjusted.
