Bear puts a narrow resonant peak on a monophonic part and moves it with each note, so the tone shifts slowly along with the line, close to a wah that follows the player. Leit Audio voiced it for distorted lead guitar.

Pitch tracking handles one note at a time between 80 Hz and 1,600 Hz. The single Boost knob sets the resonance from 0 to 20 dB. When tracking gets uncertain, Bear holds the last note it was sure of until it finds a new one, rather than dropping out. It runs with zero samples of latency and no lookahead, so it can follow live playing without adding delay.
