A careful rebuild of a 1985 home sampling keyboard from solo developer Brownie Digital: 8-bit sampling at about 9.4 kHz, 13 hardware envelopes, circuit-bend tricks (clock bend, glitch, stutter), 2 LFOs and an 11-rhythm drum box, plus a live FX version.
About Microsampler 85'
Microsampler 85' is solo developer Brownie Digital's measured rebuild of a 1985 home sampling keyboard: 8-bit sampling at about 9.4 kHz, a 1.47-second sample time (up to 30 s in the plugin), the original's playback filter and clipping, and 13 hardware envelopes, matched against the real hardware. A bend knob drags the clock down two octaves or up one, with glitch and stutter circuit-bend tricks, two LFOs, an 11-pattern rhythm box with a step editor, and three filter models. A separate FX version runs live audio through the circuit.
It's a Gumroad purchase (3-computer licence, 14-day refund), with a free trial that plays like the original keyboard at reduced voices. The plugin's 8 built-in tones need the owner's own 32 KB tone-ROM dump from a real unit; the sampler, rhythm box, circuit bends and LFOs all work without it. VST3, LV2 and a standalone app for Mac and Windows, plus AU on Mac; macOS 11+ (Apple Silicon or Intel) and Windows 10/11 64-bit.
