About 2G

2G is a sampler that generates its source sound from a text description, then plays it back through a model of a small early-2000s phone speaker. You type what you hear in your head, get a sample, shape it and play it from a keyboard. It also plays your own samples.

Loop analysis compares timbre, volume and vibrato to find loop points, avoids abrupt shifts and short repeats, crossfades the joins and offers up to three candidates. Root note analysis measures pitch across the sample and corrects fine tuning on playback, or marks it Unpitched. Tone controls are Attack, Release, Brightness, Detune, Noise, Quality and Formant.

The speaker model covers narrow bandwidth, resonances and diaphragm excursion, and a voice-coil heating model compresses long, loud passages. All four voices drive the same speaker, so chords push it harder. The 16 kHz mono character can be bypassed with one switch.
