Bulkhead is a true-peak limiter built on the limiter engine inside Dead Signal Audio's Vantage. Peaks are detected at 16x the sample rate and held under CEILING; INPUT adds up to 24 dB of drive, RELEASE runs 20 ms to 1 s with an AUTO mode, and meters show gain reduction, short-term LUFS and true peak.
About Bulkhead
Bulkhead is a true-peak limiter that shares its engine with the limiter inside Dead Signal Audio's Vantage mastering plugin. It holds peaks under a set ceiling, including the inter-sample peaks that clip once a mix is converted to MP3 or AAC.
Detection runs at 16 times the sample rate. INPUT adds up to 24 dB of drive ahead of the limiter, CEILING sets the true-peak limit, and RELEASE runs from 20 ms to one second, with an AUTO mode that lets go faster on light limiting and slower on heavy. Metering shows gain reduction, short-term LUFS and true peak.
It uses lookahead and reports the exact latency to the host so tracks stay aligned. In the developer's tests, 12 dB of drive kept the true peak at a -1 dBTP ceiling.
