About Cosmic Echo
Cosmic Echo is a tape echo modeled part by part from the original machine's service notes. A record head writes to a tape loop, three playback heads read it back, and INTENSITY feeds them into the record amp again through the tone stack, so every repeat is reshaped on each pass.
Repeat Rate sets tape speed between 12 and 40 cm per second, and changing it bends the pitch already on the tape. The twelve modes cover four echo settings, seven echo-plus-spring settings and spring alone, using two springs fitted to a measured tank. The input stage uses neural captures of the machine's own instrument input at volume 5, 7.5 and 10.
An added extension unit holds a 24-socket patch bay, tape condition, wow and flutter, motor torque, splice, tempo sync with dotted and triplet values, freeze and reverse. The 41 factory settings are grouped by use, from a single vocal slap to dub throws and space effects.
