About Vocal Prep
Vocal Prep is a vocal preparation utility from ShushuLab, a one-person Japanese developer. It runs as an ARA Event FX in Studio One, so it can read the whole vocal source at once, and it takes over the repetitive cutting, nudging and level matching that comes before mixing: cover songs, vocal editing sessions or any job where the same edits get made over and over.
In one pass it sorts the material into silence, breath, singing and unknown regions. Silent parts are muted where they sit instead of being cut out, so the timeline keeps its length. Timing is pulled toward the vocal onsets within a range you choose, with the related breaths moving along, and input-level differences between sources and song sections are evened out before any compressor sees them, so EQ, compression and saturation start from consistent levels.
Nothing is committed straight away. Prepare generates the edits as proposals, Preview lets you hear and fix only the spots that need it, and Confirm followed by a Studio One bounce writes the result as new audio. The developer verified ARA operation in Studio One 7 Professional; it also works as a regular insert in Capture mode.
