Free SoundFont (SF2/SFZ) player plugin with preset search, a filter, two envelopes, glide and General MIDI program-change support so GM files play with the right instrument. The free version never expires; an optional paid add-on adds 16-channel mode plus reverb and chorus.
About simpleSF2
simpleSF2 is a free SoundFont player plugin from simpleSoundbank (the developer behind simpleTapeStop and simpleSPU) that loads SF2 and SFZ SoundFonts in any DAW, as an AU, VST3 or CLAP plugin on Mac, VST3 or CLAP on Windows, or VST3/CLAP/standalone on Linux.
It loads a SoundFont, searches its presets, and shapes the sound with a filter, two envelopes and glide; it also follows MIDI program changes, so General MIDI files play back with the right instrument assigned to each channel.
The free version doesn't expire or time out. An optional paid add-on adds 16-channel multi-timbral mode plus built-in reverb and chorus, for anyone who wants it; the base player is free on its own.
