About Massive XL

Massive XL is Native Instruments' successor to Massive X, released for the synth's 20th anniversary. The headline addition is Generate: drag in an audio file, pick a 4-second section, optionally isolate one part of a mixed file with stem separation, and it returns four playable presets you can edit. It runs locally on your computer.

Mutator swaps whole modules (filter type, oscillators, noise tables, inserts, effects) using material from other presets in your library, while Randomizer keeps the module types and scrambles their settings; either can be locked per module. There are more than 100 new wavetables (vintage PPG, acoustic instruments, original Massive tables) and 100+ new noisetables, plus drag-and-drop import of your own wavetables.

Raum reverb, Replika Shimmer and Tape Wobble now sit in the effect slots, the Morpher gains a Freeze mode, poly aftertouch works on compatible hardware, and the interface adds animated modulators, undo/redo history and custom user banks. It ships with a 1,000-preset factory library and loads existing Massive X presets and Expansions. On Mac it runs as VST, VST3, AU and AAX; on Windows as VST3 and AAX. It needs an AVX-capable Intel CPU or Apple Silicon, macOS 14 or later or Windows 10/11.
